‘Aani’ platform allows instant transfers with only a mobile number

The "Aani" platform was introduced in the United Arab Emirates, allowing banks or other approved financial institutions to provide an instant payment experience.

The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) subsidiary Al Etihad Payments (AEP) introduced the platform.

Here are the five key features of the platform:

- Send money directly to someone using just their mobile number.

- Ask others to send you money with a simple request.

- Easily divide and share expenses among friends or groups.

- Pay at stores, restaurants, and other outlets using QR codes—a feature the CBUAE announced will be rolled out soon.

- Stay in control of your payment requests by managing them—whether that means canceling, accepting, or declining pending requests.

The maximum amount of money that can be transferred in a single transaction using this site is Dh50,000, which is an important point to remember.

Aani only permits domestic transfers between UAE-licensed banking institutions. The platform has only partnered with eight banks and financial institutions in the United Arab Emirates thus far.

Only the participating banks' smartphone apps provide access to the instant money transfer system. The Aani mobile app, compatible with both Android and Apple devices, is also available for download. You must, however, have an account with a financial institution that is licensed in order to use the app.
