Abu Dhabi announced the transition of public health pest control services under its mandate

In keeping with its commitment to public health and safety, Abu Dhabi announced the transfer of public health pest control services under its purview. Pest monitoring and control requests for homes, public spaces, and facilities will be handled by the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center. Individuals, farms, and houses can register a request using the pest control services using the TAMM platform, or they can call the Government Contact Center at 800555.

While Tadweer still manages waste management services, the Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company (Tadweer) has given over control of pest control services to ADPHC. In addition to controlling potentially harmful pests like snakes, scorpions, spiders, and wasps, pest management services also cover managing disease-carrying insects like mosquitoes, flies, rats, ticks, and others.

The center will also conduct upskilling programs for pest control specialists to improve their abilities in cooperation with strategic partners. This would also enhance scientific studies on disease vectors, such as the creation of practical control strategies through experimentation and the assessment of the efficacy of pesticides and control materials in both lab and field settings.

The center will start neighborhood initiatives aimed at educating people about the critical need of managing and avoiding pests that pose a threat to public health. These programs, which highlight the value of prevention, have a major impact on lowering the number of disease vectors and other pests in both biological and societal contexts.

By integrating data on the distribution of disease vectors with information and protocols pertaining to disease examination and investigation, the center seeks to enhance the surveillance and investigation of infectious diseases. With this integration, tailored vector control actions based on geographic distribution can be implemented, facilitating the effective management of infectious disease transmission within the emirate.
