Environmental Film Festival returns for its fifth edition from October 9 to 11 at NYU Abu Dhabi’s Blue Hall. Organised with the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, the festival will feature international films, documentaries and animation under the theme “Mend,” inspired by the idea of carefully restoring something valuable.
A major highlight is Werner Herzog’s Ghost Elephants, making its Gulf premiere. The National Geographic documentary follows the search for a mysterious elephant herd in Angola.
The festival will also feature Fungi: Web of Life, narrated by Björk, a restored 4K version of Manthan, and films from the 2026 Berlinale and Sundance festivals.
UAE-produced series Conservation Diaries, by Connect with Nature, will also premiere, following scientists, volunteers and local conservationists working across the country’s wadis, coastlines, mangroves and rural communities.
