All of the Dubai Metro stations now have new signs. This plan was developed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai in partnership with Keolis-MHI to facilitate commuters' travel on the Metro and Tram.
"The Rail Agency's technical teams executed a comprehensive plan to modernize wayfinding signage across all stations on the Red and Green lines," stated Hassan Al Mutawa, Director of Rail Operations at RTA's Rail Agency. Approximately 11,000 work hours were needed to install and update the 9,000 navigation signs that were part of this design.
In order to improve visibility, exit signs are now emphasized in bright yellow boxes. The project also involved placing new signs at station entrances and exits and updating entry and exit signage. In order to improve passenger flow, it also added floor stickers and more readable platform directional markings to direct travelers to the appropriate train lines.
Stickers were placed around stations and waiting rooms to convey a variety of behavioral messages in recognition of the significance of manners and public behavior. These messages make the trip more comfortable by encouraging users to use public transportation with appropriate manners.
Prominent notice was put in place as part of RTA's efforts to safeguard the comfort of Gold Class guests as well as women and children using the cabins and to prevent unauthorized use. To make them more easily identifiable, the old floor markers were swapped out for clear pink and gold boards marked "Gold Class Cabin" and "Women and Children Cabin.
These improvements were also mirrored in RTA's smart systems, mobile applications, train audio announcements, platform announcements, and social media channels to provide uniformity and harmony across all visual and aural assistance channels.
