Dubai RTA will upgrade Umm Suqeim Street

In an extensive integrated urban project, the RTA will improve Umm Suqeim Street from its junction with Jumeirah Street to Al Khail Road.

In addition to developing road infrastructure and increasing traffic capacity, the plans will also benefit the community at large. Complete streets, a dedicated bike track, and pedestrian walkways will all be included, along with urban areas intended to foster better community relations. More people will be able to more readily utilize public transportation thanks to the construction of a direct link between the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station and the surrounding residential neighborhoods.

The primary objectives of the project are to enhance traffic flow along the 20-kilometer stretch between Jumeirah and Al Qudra Road. In addition to widening roads, it will involve building three new tunnels and four new bridges.

The project is a part of an RTA master plan to improve the local road system, which will include upgrades to Jumeirah Street, Al Wasl Street, and Al Safa Street. The authority will make an announcement regarding these changes later. The Umm Suqeim to Al Qudra corridor will be developed under this master plan, providing access to important residential and development areas with a combined population of more than two million.

When finished, Umm Suqeim Street will be able to handle 16,000 cars per hour in both directions, cutting down on the twenty-minute travel time between Jumeirah Street and Al Khail Road to only six.
