In order to further modernize and extend the city's public transportation fleet, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has inked a Dh1.1 billion agreement to supply 637 new buses. These cars, which include 40 electric buses, are the largest and first-of-its-kind order placed by the UAE and meet the European "Euro 6" low-emission criteria. The buses are expected to arrive in 2025 and 2026.
According to Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai's choice to host the 2026 UITP Global Public Transport Summit is a testament to the emirate's growing international prominence and the robustness of its integrated infrastructure.
