Emirates to ban use of power banks onboard from October 1, 2025

Earlier this year, the airline stated that using any type of power bank on board its flights would be forbidden. Beginning on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, the use of any type of rechargeable battery pack is prohibited.

Following a safety review, Emirates announced that it is adopting a tough position on the use of power banks to guarantee the safety of passengers. Currently, you cannot bring a power bank in your checked luggage, however you can in your cabin baggage. Passengers will be allowed to carry one power bank if it meets certain conditions beginning Wednesday, October 1, but they will not be able to use it on the plane.

According to the updated guidelines for Emirates passengers:

- Each traveler is allowed to carry only one power bank with a capacity below 100 Watt Hours.

- Power banks cannot be used to charge personal devices during the flight.

- Recharging a power bank using the aircraft’s power supply is prohibited.

- Accepted power banks must clearly display their capacity rating.

- Power banks are not allowed in overhead storage; they must be kept either in the seat pocket or in a bag placed under the seat ahead.

- As per existing rules, power banks remain strictly prohibited in checked baggage.
