Abu Dhabi Police cautioned drivers against the risky practice of pulling over before reaching the Darb gates in order to avoid paying tolls. They mentioned that a Dh500 fine is imposed for unlawfully stopping and obstructing vehicles.
A video posted on Friday by the Directorate of Traffic and Security Patrols of the Abu Dhabi Police showed multiple drivers halting just before they entered the Darb toll gates. They didn't move till the toll gate was free.
Any vehicle that passes through one of the toll gates between 7 and 9 a.m. and solely between 5 and 7 p.m. is charged Dh4 per transaction. For the remainder of the day, as well as on Sundays and public holidays, there is a toll.

Drivers were cautioned that breaking traffic laws, including as halting and impeding traffic without permission, can result in a Dh500 fine. A Dh1,000 fine and four black points are imposed for sudden swerving, which is a major traffic infraction. A Dh400 fine is imposed for using designated bus lanes or parking lots.
