Seventeen years after its debut at Atlantis, The Palm, the Lost World Aquarium—formerly the Lost Chambers Aquarium—has reopened following a complete revamp featuring state-of-the-art technology. The marine-themed attraction, popular with both residents and tourists, now offers live mermaid performances, immersive storytelling, and eye-catching projections designed for social media. Tickets for the redesigned aquarium, reopening Monday, October 27 after its August closure, start at Dhs125.
The immersive experience uses over 1,900 LED panels, 55 high-powered projectors, and 140 speakers to create a projection mapping and soundscape that transport visitors into a fantastical underwater world. A specially composed musical score enhances the 14 interactive themed rooms, where custom content blends narrative and cinematic graphics. The 10-meter-deep Ambassador Lagoon hosts live mermaid shows daily, featuring five expert underwater performers demonstrating synchronized movements, breath-hold techniques, and musical storytelling.
Visitors can also upgrade their experience with an Interactive Trident, unlocking 20 additional activities, including hidden messages and multisensory effects. The aquarium has introduced 35 new species, including the Striated Frogfish, Axolotl, and Giant Pacific Octopus, across 19 new marine habitats designed to showcase the diversity of ocean life.
Tickets can be purchased online, and a stay at Atlantis, The Palm, or Atlantis The Royal includes access to the Lost World Aquarium and Aquaventure, the world’s largest waterpark. For visitors from outside the UAE, separate aquarium tickets cost Dhs85 for children and Dhs105 for adults, while UAE residents pay from Dhs125 during the first week. A combined ticket for the waterpark and aquarium is also available, priced at Dhs330 for children and Dhs380 for adults, offering a complete entertainment experience.
This revamp transforms the Lost World Aquarium into a fully immersive, interactive marine adventure, blending technology, performance, and marine education for a one-of-a-kind experience.
