The Ministry of Interior has announced August 25, 2024, the first day of the new academic year, to be "A Day Without Accidents" as the UAE prepares to return to school after summer break.
All of the nation's police departments will work together with the Ministry of Interior (MOI) to carry out this project. Every year on the day that kids return to school nationwide, it aims to improve road safety as traffic spikes after a two-month break caused by summer vacations.
The government has implemented a reward scheme for drivers who do not break any traffic laws on this day in order to encourage them.
Four black points will be taken off your driver's license if you make a pledge on the official MOI website and register no infractions on August 25. By September 15, 2025, the deduction will be made electronically, doing away with the requirement to visit service centers.
Drivers have been urged to buckle up, observe posted speed limits, keep a safe distance from other cars, avoid using cell phones while driving, and yield to official convoys and emergency vehicles.
