The Natural History Museum in the vibrant Saadiyat Cultural District will open its doors on November 22, 2025, according to a recent announcement from Abu Dhabi.
Covering 35,000 square meters, the Natural History Museum rises like a natural creation from the island's waters. It immerses visitors in 13.8 billion years of natural history, covering everything from the Big Bang and the creation of our solar system to the evolution of life, including the emergence and demise of dinosaurs, and the biodiversity of the planet.
The museum's mission to "connect people with the natural world and inspire the next generation to question, discover, and take part in shaping a more sustainable future" is reflected in its silhouette, which was designed by famous architects Mecanoo and reflects natural rock forms.
In celebration of its opening, the museum will host two temporary international exhibitions: the 61st Wildlife Photographer of the Year, one of the most prominent international exhibitions of nature photography, and The March of the Triceratops, which will feature the only traveling Triceratops herd in the world.
