New law introduced to resolve citizen housing contract disputes

On Monday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued a new law aimed at resolving disputes concerning the execution of housing construction contracts for citizens in the emirate.

Taking effect on January 1, 2026, the law establishes a specialized legal framework designed to address conflicts quickly and effectively, ensuring that housing development projects continue without delays.

The law aims to:

- Creating an ADR system for construction contracts that safeguards the rights of all parties involved.

- Advocating for friendly and consensual solutions, and fostering the continuation of contractual relationships.

- Offering a rapid and more effective means of settling disagreements, in order to simplify the process of resolving disputes in citizen housing initiatives.

- Guarantee that construction advances without pause, even amid contractual disputes.
