New media law introduced regulatory framework to foster responsible content

Digital creators and influencers are closely examining how the broad regulations can change their operations. The law establishes new licensing requirements and steep fines for infractions, even though its goal is to encourage moral content and responsible communication. Consequently, producers are questioning what qualifies as "media activity" and how they may comply.

With its implementation on May 29, the new media law established a comprehensive regulatory structure designed to promote responsible content and safeguard social values. Even those headquartered in free zones are covered, as are influencers, digital producers, and licensed media outlets that work professionally in the United Arab Emirates. It establishes explicit guidelines for fact-checking, licensing, and polite discourse.
