The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) stated on Tuesday that UAE nationals can now renew or replace their Emirates ID card in a single step rather than undergoing several steps.
ICP further mentioned that, like the UAE passport, the card's validity length is automatically decided by the citizen's age.
The Emirates ID's validity is automatically set at 10 years if the Emirati is 21 years of age or older. When applying for the renewal service, the validity of the Emirates ID is set at five years if the applicant is younger than twenty-one.
Citizens can now replace or renew their Emirates ID in a single step using the ICP smart services system, which simply requires completing an application and paying the required fees.
To streamline the application submission process, previous procedures that were removed included showing the Emirates ID template on a single page, filling out non-essential areas such personal address, and retrieving information from the database.
