UAE passengers alerted on new flight rules; power bank ban cabin baggage restrictions

Several goods are prohibited in cabin baggage by UAE airport authorities to promote safe travel.
Dubai
- Cabin & Checked Baggage restriction:
- Tools: Hammers, nails, screwdrivers, drills, sharp tools
- Scissors with blades over 6cm
- Personal grooming kits with parts over 6cm
- Swords, sharp objects, martial arts weapons
- Handcuffs, ropes, packing/measuring tapes
- Firearms, ammunition, flare guns, laser guns
- Walkie-talkies
- Bats
- Lighters (one lighter per person allowed)
- Electrical cables (except for personal travel use)
Hand Baggage Restrictions:
- Liquids: Max 100ml per container; up to 10 containers, in a clear 20x20cm resealable bag
- Medication: doctor’s prescription required
- Metal medical devices: Doctor's certificate required
- Power banks: Allowed up to 100Wh. Between 100–160Wh may be accepted based on airline approval. Not permitted above 160Wh. Cannot be used during flight
Sharjah
- Airport Cabin & Checked Baggage restriction:
- Bludgeons: Clubs, baseball bats
- Flammable gas: Lighters, gas cartridges
- Wet-reactive substances: Calcium, carbide
- Flammable solids: Matches, sulphur
- Chemical/biological agents: Cyanide, smallpox, etc.
- Flammable/corrosive liquids: Paint, gasoline, ink, batteries
- Firearms, including flare and starter pistols
- Knives with blades over 6cm, illegal knives, swords, hunting knives
- Oxidizers: Bleach, ammonium nitrate (cargo only)
- Non-flammable gases: Diving tanks, oxygen cylinders
- Radioactive materials, toxic gases
- Infectious substances: Medical waste, viruses
- Explosives: Fireworks, ammunition, blasting caps
- Dangerous goods: Internal combustion engines, polymeric beads
- Suspicious/dangerous items: Toy weapons, ice picks, razors
- Disabling devices: Tear gas, stun guns
- Organic peroxide
Hand Baggage Restrictions:
- Liquids: Max 100ml per item, in clear 20x20cm resealable bag
- Medicines & Baby Food: Must have a prescription or note.
