UAE will enforce ban on outdoor work starting June 15

Beginning on June 15, the UAE will prohibit working outside in direct sunlight from 12.30 to 3 p.m. every day for three months. Now in its 21st year, the midday break program was started to safeguard employees during the nation's hottest summer months.

The plan calls for employees to take a break from working outside during the hottest hours of the day until September 15.

Through its inspection mechanisms, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (Mohre) will keep an eye on compliance to make sure that no employees are forced to work within the forbidden hours.

Businesses who break the rule risk fines of Dh5,000 for each employee, with a multi-employee charge of Dh50,000.

Companies in the public and private sectors must make the appropriate summertime arrangements and supplies, such as providing shaded locations to shield employees from the sun while they are taking breaks or carrying out authorized tasks, in accordance with the noon break.

Additionally, employers must make sure that workers have access to the proper cooling equipment, such as fans. Along with other facilities and first aid supplies at the workplace, they also have to supply sufficient amounts of drinking water and electrolytes, which are hydration supplements authorized by the local government.
