Unemployment Insurance Scheme supports 17,758 workers, coverage hits 88.38% as per MOHRE

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE) announced that 88.38% of the targeted private-sector workforce is now covered under the unemployment insurance scheme, which has supported 17,758 workers since its launch in January 2023.

Over the past five years, more than 32,000 workers have benefited from the Worker Protection Insurance Programme, receiving compensation for unpaid wages, end-of-service benefits, and other legal entitlements. Average settlements exceeded Dh9,000 per worker, with some claims reaching Dh20,000, totaling over Dh289 million disbursed. 

Additionally, more than 2,500 companies are registered under the Labour Accommodation System, which ensures proper worker housing. Around 1.9 million workers now benefit from safe, healthy, and comfortable accommodations, including access to safe drinking water, essential room and bathroom supplies, and other basic necessities, promoting their well-being and quality of life.
