A regulated digital wallet will be launched on a pilot basis at Zayed International Airport, offering visitors a secure platform for cashless payments. This initiative stems from a new collaboration between Abu Dhabi Airports and Al Hail Holding, aimed at exploring advanced payment solutions, including stablecoins and digital assets.
Under the partnership, a joint steering committee will guide the project’s development and execution. Abu Dhabi Airports will contribute infrastructure, operational access, and ecosystem integration, while Al Hail Holding will manage governance and financial structuring through its affiliates, including Zand Bank and Index Exchange. Xare will facilitate the integration of the digital wallet, payment systems, and partner interfaces.
Apart from fintech, the collaboration will also concentrate on promoting smart mobility and sustainability projects, such as integrating AI-powered systems and intelligent transportation technology to improve environmental performance and operational efficiency throughout Abu Dhabi Airports' network.
The partnership seeks to improve the overall travel experience by making it possible for incoming travelers to make payments more quickly, conveniently, and securely.
