Residents and citizens of the United Arab Emirates have been cautioned by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) to be on the lookout for fraudulent phone calls coming from unidentified numbers.
The Ministry issued the following warning in a post on X on Friday: "We encourage you to be wary of calls from unfamiliar numbers in order to protect your personal information. These could be fraudulent and are classified as "vishing" (voice phishing), in which the caller poses as an official organization to gain your private or sensitive information.
MoHRE cautioned that these calls are frequently attempts to get private information, such as bank account numbers, passport and residence details, and private transaction codes of residents and employers interacting with MoHRE or other agencies in charge of labor, residency, and visas.
The Ministry encouraged everyone to report any suspicious activity right away by email at [email protected] or by calling the Contact Center at 600590000.
