Passengers must be prepared to prevent airport delays, according to recent advice from the Indian Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and UAE customs.
New items have been added to the banned list if you’re travelling to India. The following are the main points covered in the most recent luggage updates:
Dehydrated coconut
This rule has been in effect since 2022 and prohibits checked and cabin luggage owing to safety concerns.
Clarified butter, or ghee
Keep your cabin luggage under 100ml as it is subject to the Liquid, Aerosols, and Gels (LAGs) restriction. You can, however, carry 5 kilos in checked baggage; but this has to be confirmed with your airline or the airport before travelling.
Spices
Spices, both whole and powdered, are absolutely prohibited in carry-on luggage but acceptable in checked baggage.
Pickles
While spicy pickles are prohibited in hand luggage, the majority of pickles are permitted in checked and carry-on luggage. Check the airline's list for any extra limitations.
E-cigarettes
Both checked and cabin luggage are strictly prohibited from including e-cigarettes. On this one, neither UAE customs nor India's BCAS are compromising.
Follow the guidelines and keep clear of penalties or confiscations in general:
- Check online: The majority of airports update their lists of prohibited items on their websites.
- Demand clarification: For confirmation, get in touch with your airline or airport.
- Keep yourself informed: Review the guidelines before every trip because luggage regulations change frequently.
Your trip from India to the United Arab Emirates can be hassle-free with a little preparation and thoughtful packing.
