According to the 2025 World Competitiveness Ranking published by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), the United Arab Emirates rose from 28th place in 2009 to rank among the top five countries in the world in terms of competitiveness, government efficiency, the strength of its laws, and the caliber of its business environment.
The results were revealed at a Cabinet meeting today at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, which was presided over by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.
The UAE also set a new record in its continuous effort to transform public service by ranking first in the world for the lack of bureaucracy, second for adaptability, and fourth for government efficiency.
The research claims that extensive reforms that have streamlined public services and removed pointless procedures have enabled the UAE to rise to the top of the world in terms of bureaucracy absence. The nation also came in second place for flexibility, which is a gauge of how quickly it can react to shifting domestic and international conditions.
