According to the Roads and Transport Authority, 622 locations have been the installed with 893 air-conditioned bus shelters throughout Dubai in advance of the summer. With Dubai's temperatures rising beyond 40°C, commuters may finally relax thanks to the renovated facilities.
The RTA will continue to maintain and inspect the air-conditioned shelters until the second quarter of 2025.
The eco-friendly shelters are more resistant to wind and heat because of their streamlined design. In addition to wheelchair-accessible areas, each shelter has directional signage that shows the bus mobility network in the emirate. The bus shelters in Dubai were updated to feature display displays that showed the arrival and departure of buses in real time.
