With an emphasis on convenience, student discipline, and safety, Abu Dhabi schools revised their mobility policy. Schools are required to guarantee the safety of every student while they are being transported to and from school, according to the Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek). It's important for parents and students to understand this travel policy.
Safety is the top priority in school transport, and schools remain responsible for every student’s safety, even with third-party operators.
Bus supervisors are mandatory for children under 11 to ensure close monitoring.
Students below 15 cannot travel unaccompanied; a parent or appointed adult must be present at drop-off, or the child will be returned to school.
Elder siblings aged 15+ may pick up younger ones only with parental consent, and parents must accept responsibility.
Cycle 3 students (Grades 9–12) may use non-school transport if parents sign consent.
School buses are strictly for students, though field trips may use compliant tourist buses.
Fees follow ITC’s framework and require ADEK approval.
Journeys must not exceed 60 minutes, with designated pick-up/drop-off points only.
Drivers and supervisors need ITC permits; female supervisors are required for mixed or younger students.
Schools must manage traffic safely, deploy trained staff, update emergency plans, and provide proper parking.
