Gulf Medical University (GMU) in the UAE established the first-of-its-kind Institute of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Technology in Health Care on Wednesday, with the goal of strengthening digital skills among medical professionals and boosting health-care delivery.
Dr. Thumbay Moideen, founder and president of Thumbay Group, stated that the AI Institute, which would be situated on the GMU campus in Ajman, "will not only leverage the potential of AI in medical education, but will also tap emerging technologies like the metaverse."
He stated that the Institute, which is scheduled to open in September of this year, "will bring together experts in medicine, computer science, data analytics, and metaverse technology" (an online, 3D, virtual environment that connects people across many platforms).
"The Institute's innovative programmes and courses blend theoretical knowledge with hands-on training, empowering students to develop cutting-edge AI solutions specifically tailored to the healthcare domain, including applications within the metaverse," Dr. Moideen continued.
