Al Maktoum International Airport, also known as Dubai World Central (DWC), is set to become the world’s largest airport with a future capacity of 260 million passengers annually — and plans are already underway to ensure a seamless travel experience.
As per Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, future passengers traveling to DWC via the Etihad Rail network may be able to check in their luggage directly on the train. The upcoming passenger rail service will include a stop at Al Maktoum International Airport, helping travelers save time and avoid lengthy pre-flight procedures.
Griffiths also shared that the airport’s long-term vision includes doing away with traditional check-in altogether. Through the use of biometric technology and the addition of new concourses, DWC aims to provide travelers with a fully frictionless journey from arrival to boarding.
