Dubai and several regions of the UAE are preparing for a spell of unsettled weather next week, with conditions expected to bring everything from light showers to heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and cooler temperatures.
From Friday onward, increasing cloud cover will signal the start of a weather system that will intensify between December 16 and 19. Periodic scattered showers are likely as cloud formations shift across the country. Wind patterns will vary throughout the weekend, moving from south-easterly to north-easterly, and at times north-westerly.
Although winds will generally remain light to moderate, they may become much stronger near convective clouds, where dust could also be stirred up in open areas.
According to Dr Ahmed Habib, Meteorologist at the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the northern emirates can expect particularly heavy rainfall over the weekend.
