Following a five-year-old child's injury after falling from a moving car in Dubai, officials have reiterated the urgent need for children to wear safety gear when driving. Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Dubai Police's Acting Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations, emphasized the need of closely adhering to child safety rules when driving. He also cautioned against leaving kids alone in cars, particularly in the summer, as there is a risk of suffocation and heatstroke. Police emphasized how crucial it is to keep a constant eye on kids when they drive, especially to make sure they don't open windows or push their hands or heads out of the car.
According to Dubai Police, it is still working with partners to increase public awareness of road safety, especially as it relates to the safety of children. According to reports, as summer temperatures rise and travel increases, the General Traffic Department is stepping up its activities.
All passengers must wear seatbelts in accordance with UAE traffic legislation, and youngsters are subject to special rules. Children under the age of ten are not allowed to ride in the front seat and must be positioned in the rear, while children under the age of four must be buckled up in a suitable child safety seat.
A Dh400 fine and four black points on the driver's license are imposed for noncompliance with these child safety regulations or for any passenger who does not use a seat belt. Both drivers and passengers must abide by these regulations, and officials stress that compliance is essential to avoiding fatalities or major injuries.
