Dubai International Airport (DXB) has surpassed Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to become the world’s busiest airport when both domestic and international flights are counted — at least for January 2026.
Data from aviation consultancy OAG’s Busiest Global Airports by Seats ranking shows DXB sold more than 5.5 million seats during the month, giving it a lead of over 500,000 seats compared with Atlanta. While Dubai has dominated international traffic for years, this marks a shift once domestic operations are included. However, the overall rankings for the full year of 2025 are still pending.
