Dubai introduces Personal Mobility Monitoring unit to regulate bikes and e-scooters

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with Dubai Police, has launched a Personal Mobility Monitoring Unit to regulate bicycles and e-scooters across the city.

Starting May 1, 2026, the unit will monitor cycling tracks, major roads, and soft mobility zones to improve safety and ensure compliance with traffic rules. Violations such as riding outside designated areas, speeding, not wearing protective gear, reckless riding, and carrying passengers on e-scooters may result in fines or vehicle impoundment.

Riders are advised to check safety guidelines and regulations on the RTA website as Dubai expands its smart mobility network.
