Dubai introduced a one-time contactless hotel check-in system in December 2025, following an announcement by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
The initiative allows hotels and holiday homes across the emirate to offer guests a fully digital check-in using biometric verification, eliminating the need for in-person registration at reception. Address Downtown, the luxury hotel overlooking the Burj Khalifa, is among the first to adopt the service, with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism set to roll out the technology citywide.
The system cuts waiting times and streamlines arrivals, while securely stored guest data remains valid until ID expiry, enabling faster check-ins on future visits. The initiative enhances safety, boosts efficiency and delivers a smoother, traveller-centric hospitality experience.
