Dubai Municipality has launched a pilot smart camera system under its “Smart Waste Management” framework to enhance public cleanliness monitoring and speed up responses to violations.
Using AI and real-time data analysis, the system has been installed on select waste collection vehicles to track cleanliness on roads and in residential areas, and to detect illegal dumping near bins and public spaces. Violations such as littering, which can carry fines of up to Dh500, and improper disposal of bulky waste are identified through instant image analysis. The initiative supports the Dubai Integrated Waste Management Strategy 2041 and aims to boost sustainability and quality of life.
