Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new permit service allowing the installation of parking shades in residential areas. The permit is limited to officially designated and reserved parking spaces and can be obtained through the RTA website.
Requests are submitted via approved contracting companies using a single digital platform that streamlines coordination and approvals from all relevant authorities. The initiative follows feedback from residents, particularly regarding extreme summer heat and growing vehicle numbers in neighbourhoods. According to the RTA, the service supports efforts to enhance residents’ comfort while preserving Dubai’s urban design and visual standards.
