Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a dynamic fare system for taxis booked via partner apps, including Careem (Hala), S’hail, Bolt, Zed, and the DTC Smart App. Announced on Wednesday, the update links booking fees to demand at specific times, with a new minimum fare of Dh13 for app rides. Off-peak reservations now cost Dh4, while peak-hour rides are Dh7.50, replacing the previous Dh10–12 flat charges.
Street-hailing fares remain unchanged, with a base fare of Dh5.50 at night (10:00 PM–6:00 AM) and Dh5.00 during the day (6:00 AM–10:00 PM), and per-kilometer rates between Dh2.14 and Dh2.26 depending on fuel adjustments. Street-hail trips carry a minimum fare of Dh12.
Taxis from Dubai International Airport (DXB) have a higher starting fare of Dh25, with per-kilometer rates of Dh2.14–2.33. For popular venues like Expo City, Global Village, and Dubai World Trade Centre, RTA may raise base fares to Dh20–25 during major events to reflect traffic and demand conditions. Peak hours are 8:00–10:00 AM and 4:00–8:00 PM (Monday–Thursday), with extended evening peaks on Fridays.
