
Pony.ai, a major provider of autonomous driving technologies, and Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to start autonomous car pilot testing in the emirate. Later this year, the testing will start, setting the stage for the 2026 debut of a fully autonomous commercial service.
The seventh generation of autonomous vehicles, which Pony.ai has created in collaboration with major automakers like Toyota, GAC, and BAIC, was recently unveiled. Advanced artificial intelligence algorithms and a complex suite of sensors, including as lidars, radars, and cameras, are installed in the company's cars to provide precise navigation and safety in a variety of road and weather conditions.
Additionally, the company has partnered with top digital companies like Tencent and Alibaba to include robotaxi mobility services into WeChat and Alipay.
The Excellency of The MoU between RTA and Pony.ai was signed in front of Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority, as well as Dr. Leo Wang, Chief Financial Officer of Pony.ai.
The MoU was signed in front of a number of representatives from both parties by Mr. Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of the Public Transport Agency, on behalf of RTA, and Ms. Ann Shi, Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, on behalf of Pony.ai.
