Etihad Rail’s passenger network is moving closer to launch, with the first phase expected to begin operations later this year. The project reached another milestone with the completion of its first passenger station in Al Hilal, Fujairah.
The station will connect Fujairah with Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, offering facilities such as food and beverage outlets, parking spaces, waiting lounges, ticketing machines, car rental services and taxi access. Tickets will be available through automated machines and QR code scanning systems.
Etihad Rail has also confirmed that Dubai’s first passenger station will be located within a five-minute walk of Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station.
The 900-kilometre rail network is set to connect 11 cities across all seven emirates, with planned stations in locations including Al Sila, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezairaa, Al Faya, Dubai, Al Dhaid and Fujairah.
The initial passenger route will operate between Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah, with further expansion planned throughout 2026. A fare of Dhs100 shown in a promotional video between Fujairah and Abu Dhabi was later clarified by Etihad Rail as illustrative only, with official pricing yet to be announced.
