The passenger service on Etihad Rail is scheduled to begin in 2026, according to recent announcements. Once it's open for travel, 36.5 million passengers a year are anticipated.
The first passenger train station will be constructed in the center of Fujairah, near Sakamkam. The construction of the second passenger station close to the University City of Sharjah was also announced in March 2024.
Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the other two emirates that will initially be served by the Etihad Rail passenger service.
According to plans for the expansion of Dubai's Jumeirah Golf Estates, a passenger station for the Etihad Rail will be built close by.
Eleven cities in the seven UAE emirates will be connected by the 900-kilometer Etihad Rail passenger train. Al Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Dubai, Sharjah, Al Dhaid, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi will all be included in its journey from Al Sila to Fujairah.
In the future, the national service will only require 50 minutes to travel from Abu Dhabi to Dubai and from Dubai to Fujairah. However, travel times will only be 30 minutes thanks to a high-speed rail project that connects the two emirates.
The trip from Abu Dhabi to Al Ruwais will only take 10 minutes, whereas the trip from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah will take one hour and forty minutes.
