Etihad Rail has conducted a passenger train trial on the route between Al Ghuwaifat station on the Saudi border and Al Faya station in Abu Dhabi. The test was carried out in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre (ADCMC) to support the continuity of essential services and provide safe transport alternatives based on ongoing risk assessments.
The route is strategically important as it strengthens connectivity between the UAE and Saudi Arabia and supports the smooth movement to and from key ports. It will also help authorities activate alternative transport routes when needed, as part of broader measures to enhance logistical security and ensure business continuity.
