The passenger rail network, which is expected to open in 2026, is being planned with convenience in mind. It will shorten the time it takes to travel between cities, eliminate the need for cars, and allow for quick and reasonably priced vacations across the nation.
Without having to drive, you can go from Abu Dhabi to Dubai in just 57 minutes or to Fujairah in less than two hours thanks to trains that can travel up to 200 km/h.
The network, which will eventually link 11 cities and districts from Al Sila near the Saudi border to Fujairah in the east, is expected to handle 36 million passengers annually by 2030.
Residents traveling for business or school can anticipate a quicker, more reliable alternative to clogged roadways with major stops planned around Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and other locations. This new option has the potential to drastically change local travel habits as gasoline prices rise and traffic in major corridors gets worse.
Without having to rent a car, visitors arriving at the airports in Abu Dhabi or Dubai will also have easy access to the remaining attractions in the United Arab Emirates. Stations will be completely linked with public transportation, providing convenient last-mile connectivity, Etihad Rail has underlined.
