The recommendation came during broader discussions on family protection, social cohesion and work-life balance. Council members called for flexible and remote work arrangements to be made mandatory, though it remains unclear whether the measures would apply to the public sector, private sector, or both. The proposals could cover mothers with children under the age of 10, those caring for elderly family members, and people of determination.
Another suggestion put forward would allow women working in federal government roles to leave work at noon, with only a nominal deduction from their salaries.
Members also highlighted the need to reduce disparities between public and private sector benefits by proposing a national incentive programme to encourage private companies to adopt family-friendly policies. Suggested incentives included tax exemptions and reduced fees.
In addition, the council renewed calls for the enforcement of a long-standing ministerial decision mandating the establishment of workplace nurseries across the country.
