GCAA no longer provides drone services in UAE

According to the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the United Arab Emirates, drone services are no longer offered in the nation. Instead, it requested that candidates apply via the official drone website.

"Drone services are no longer available through GCAA. You can apply for drone services via drones.gov.ae," the regulator stated in a statement posted on its website, adding that applicants must use the specified platform to make their requests.

Residents of the United Arab Emirates can use this platform to register as pilots, obtain real-time situational awareness to design successful drone operations missions, get instant approval for missions in controlled airspace, receive real-time airspace updates to ensure safe drone operations, and receive comprehensive drone flight reports.

At a press conference in January, GCAA stated that drone operators operating in the United Arab Emirates will be subject to both the federal government's and the emirate's rules and regulations.

Additionally, three businesses are featured on the website for training purposes: Versa Aerospace in Abu Dhabi, Melaaha Drones in Fujairah, and Emirates Falcon Aeroclub in Al Ain.

Links to register are provided by the platform for commercial and governmental organizations as well as for individuals using drones for leisure purposes.

Additionally, it provides a list of a manual that contains all of the rules for using drones in the nation. Among other things, the handbook offers dos and don'ts about airspace, drone operating zones, registration procedures, account setup, and flight requests.
