A completely electric "smart inspection car" is being introduced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) with the purpose of detecting visa and residence infractions.
Six cameras are positioned around the vehicle's body to provide 360-degree coverage. People within about ten meters of the vehicle can have their faces captured by it. According to Faris Almaeeni, Foreign Affairs Systems Department Manager, ICP, the system uses AI and a custom interface to display heat maps and alarms in real time.
While the car features advanced automated sensing and analytics, it is not fully autonomous. Officers will operate the vehicle during routine patrols and monitor flagged individuals via its onboard screens.
ICP aims to introduce the first units in early 2026, starting in Dubai and gradually expanding to other emirates.
