Iftar cannons will once again be stationed at multiple locations across Dubai during Ramadan, with Dubai Police overseeing the daily firing at six fixed sites around the city.
A cherished UAE tradition dating back to the 1960s, the Ramadan cannon is fired once each evening to signal the end of the fast. The sound can travel up to 10 kilometres, originally serving as a way to notify residents in areas where the call to prayer could not be heard.
This year also marks the return of the cannon at Jumeirah Beach Residence for the first time in a decade.
The main cannons will be located at:
Burj Khalifa
Expo City Dubai (main cannon site)
DAMAC Hills
Dubai Festival City
Jumeirah Beach Residence
Vida Creek Harbour Hotel
In addition, 17 mobile cannons will travel to community and tourist destinations throughout 2026, including:
Al Barsha Park
Al Khawaneej
Al Warqa
Atlantis The Palm
Bab Al Shams
Dubai Parks and Resorts
Global Village
Hatta
Lahbab
Marasi Boulevard
Margham
Meydan Hotel
Nad Al Sheba
One&Only One Za'abeel
Umm Suqeim
The Ramadan cannon remains an important cultural symbol observed across many Muslim countries, and for many residents, it continues to be a meaningful part of the holy month’s heritage.
