Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has announced that, starting January 9, 2026, all private schools and early childhood centres operating within private schools must conclude classes by 11.30am on Fridays.
The decision comes after the nationwide change to the Friday prayer time to 12.45pm and discussions with education providers. Schools may apply to conduct online lessons on Fridays for students in Grade 6 (Year 7) and above, provided parents are consulted and KHDA approval is granted. Teaching hours from Monday to Thursday will not be affected.
