Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi partners with Snap Inc to bring AR experiences to life

The Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, the largest of its kind in the Middle East, is enhancing its visitor experience through a new partnership with Snap Inc.

The collaboration brings augmented reality (AR) to life, transforming the museum into an immersive journey through the universe and Earth’s natural history. Visitors can explore prehistoric landscapes, ancient creatures, and giant species using Snapchat’s AR technology.

The museum’s atrium is converted into a Jurassic environment with life-sized Camarasaurus, Barosaurus, and Tylosaurus, complete with prehistoric foliage, dynamic lighting, and interactive educational storytelling. A permanent QR code allows instant access via Snapchat, while Snap’s Spectacles offer hands-free AR, including a full-scale Brachiosaurus and a photorealistic blue whale with an X-ray mode revealing its anatomy.
