A new train line between Oman and the United Arab Emirates was revealed on Friday. A preliminary agreement to launch a new rail service between Sohar and Abu Dhabi has been signed by Noatum Logistics, a firm of the AD Ports Group, and Hafeet Rail, the company that is developing and running the first cross-border railway network that connects Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
Noatum Logistics would use Hafeet Rail's network to operate a daily rail service under the terms of the deal. With a capacity of 276 TEUs each train, the service would operate seven container trains per week, for a total throughput of 193,200 TEUs annually.
From the initial day of operations, dependable and continuous capacity is guaranteed by the agreement, which guarantees dedicated trains for 20-foot, 40-foot, and 45-foot containers. These flows will encompass a broad range of products that are now exchanged between the two nations, such as manufactured goods, food items, pharmaceuticals, agrifoods, general cargo, and other necessities.
The agreement, which was finalized at the Global Rail 2025 show in Abu Dhabi, is a big step toward the opening of a dedicated freight rail line between Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
