On its website, Dubai's toll operator Salik announced that it had determined which four types of disability are eligible for exemptions from road toll charges. People with autism, physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and visual impairments are all eligible for the exemptions.
The person of determination must either be the vehicle's owner or have a direct family relationship with the owner in order to qualify. Parents, spouses (with a marriage certificate), children (with a birth certificate), grandparents, siblings, and grandchildren are all considered qualifying family relationships.
A valid Emirates ID, a valid "People of Determination" card issued by the Ministry of Community Development, or a valid "Sanad Card" issued by the Dubai Community Development Authority, as well as a valid vehicle registration in the name of the applicant or a first- or second-degree relative, are among the documents that applicants must provide. In the event that the applicant does not own the car, proof of a family link is also necessary.
Online applications are available by going to the Salik website, choosing "Salik Services," and filling out the "Toll Exemption Request" form.
Emails with supporting documentats can be directed to [email protected]. Applicants who need help can also call Salik's 24-hour helpline at 800-72545.
At the moment, Dubai runs ten Salik toll gates spanning important thoroughfares, such as Jebel Ali, Beirut Street, Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Al Maktoum Bridge, Al Garhoud Bridge, and Al Ittihad Road.
