Drivers in Sharjah will still enjoy a 10-minute grace period when using public parking, even if they move between different spots, said Hamed Al Qaed, Director of Public Parking at Sharjah City Municipality. The policy aims to help motorists who only need a few minutes for quick tasks.
He noted that the grace period remains valid even if drivers shift to a different parking spot. When the scanning system detects a vehicle in a new location, it checks earlier records within that zone. If the car is recognized as newly parked in that area, the system automatically issues another 10-minute allowance. If the vehicle was previously scanned in the same zone, the system still issues a new grace period once it detects the car has re-entered or moved to a different spot.
