Sharjah issues public safety guidelines for emergency alerts

The Sharjah Government Media Bureau has issued safety guidelines explaining how the public should respond during official emergency alerts, urging residents to remain calm and rely only on information from official authorities.

The advisory outlines precautionary steps to help protect public safety and calls on residents to follow instructions issued by relevant authorities. People inside homes, offices or other buildings are advised to move away from balconies, windows and open areas and stay in a secure indoor space, while listening to alerts through internal broadcast systems or building security announcements.

Authorities also recommend avoiding lifts if instructed, staying away from glass surfaces, and remaining indoors until the UAE Ministry of Interior confirms that the situation is safe.

Those outdoors during an alert should head to the nearest safe building, while drivers are advised to calmly proceed to the closest suitable place to seek shelter and avoid windows, external walls and glass panels while waiting for further instructions.
