The United Arab Emirates and four other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have been recognized among the world's safest at night. According to Gallup's Global Safety Report, Singapore ranks first among countries where individuals feel comfortable walking alone at night, followed by Tajikistan, China, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Norway, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.
In July, Numbeo, a crowd-sourced online information organization, named the UAE the safest country in the world. Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the UAE's two main emirates, have consistently been regarded as among the safest cities in global surveys.
According to Gallup, these rankings represent a broader set of criteria, including centralised governance, robust public order, and long-term investment in urban safety and infrastructure. Many GCC countries place a strong focus on security, enforcement, and visible state presence, which contributes to inhabitants' overall sense of safety.
