The United Arab Emirates has designated 2026 as the Year of the Family, underscoring the nation’s commitment to strengthening family bonds and reaffirming the family’s place at the heart of society.
Since 2016, the UAE has adopted themed years to shape national initiatives and guide development efforts across the seven emirates.
Announced on Thursday, November 6, by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Year of the Family will spotlight programs that nurture family growth, promote long-term stability, and emphasize its role as a pillar of social and national well-being.
The initiative will also encourage citizens and residents to uphold the values of unity, empathy, and cooperation—core traits of Emirati identity—and ensure these principles continue to inspire future generations.
